a brief history of the house and short walking tour of the grounds
with its historical......
Exploration:
The nooks and crannies, the secret surprises of The
Conference House show children the way houses of the 17th century
were built...and why.
View Open Rooms:
Young people get a sense of Colonial life in the
surroundings of the period, the furniture, draperies, linens
and decor.
How Did People Write
in The 18th Century?
There were no computers back then - only
quill pens!!! Children learn how - hands on!
Touch-and-Smell
Tours: (In Season)
The importance of herbs for food and medicine and
flowers for beauty are highlighted by "touch and smell"
tours of the rose and herb gardens.
Archeological
Information:
What lies beneath The Conference House, a 10,000
year old glacial ridge and Indian artifacts, will open new avenues
of understanding.
Young
Imaginations are opened up to an understanding of
18th century life from a child's perspective, to how life was
lived when cars were horses, heat came from fireplaces, fabrics
were spun at home and the supermarket was your own backyard.
